A preliminary study shows chocolate can aid in weight loss. What?!? That is music to my ears! The study, published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, shows that the compounds found in chocolate may help you shed pounds.
But before you go grab that piece of chocolate cake and wash it down with a bag of M&M's, be sure to eat high quality dark chocolate. Compared to milk chocolate eaters, those who consume dark chocolate eat 15
percent fewer calories, and report having fewer cravings for sweet,
salty, and fatty foods.
The trick is to eat chocolate in moderation, 1-2 small squares of dark chocolate per day with at least 65% cacao. Any more chocolate than that may work against your weight loss goals because you will consume more calories and too much sugar.
