We are back! It has been a busy 2012. Both of us had babies, went through major home renovations, and kept up with our family's crazy schedules . Here we are ringing in 2013 with many blessings and even more reasons to keep us on track with our health and fitness.

We are excited to introduce new workouts, nutrition plans, and tools to help you get in shape, stay in shape, and feel your best.

I will be posting a nutrition info, workouts and motivational tools to guide you through the month of January. Let's get motivated and start reaching our goals!

Day 1- Getting started

First we need to do 4 things to mark our progress. 

1.Take before pictures 
2. Take before measurements. Measure the circumference of your chest, waist at the naval, and hips at the widest point (Be sure to measure in the same place every time to ensure accurate results.)
3. Write down everything you put in your mouth for 30 days, including the portion size.
4. Find your target heart rate- Subtract your age by 220 and then multiply it by .65, .75, .85. Each heart rate range we will use in future workouts. (It is best to invest in a heart rate monitor so that you don't have to stop and take your pulse.)

Day 1 Workout:

Today we are going to keep it super simple. All I ask of you on this first day of the challenge is to get the first 4 steps done and get moving. Take a walk, ride your bike, put on dance music and move around your house for 15-20 minutes. 

Day 1 Nutrition:

Start cleaning out your fridge and your cupboards. Get rid of temptation- soda (including diet, which is worse for your waist than regular), chips, cookies, candy, anything with partially hydrogenated oil, etc. You know what I'm talking about, get it out of the house. If it has a long shelf life, it isn't the best thing you can put in your body. After you do a full kitchen cleanse, fill up your refrigerator with healthy real foods. Organic fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, eggs, etc. (Grocery list post to come!) Make snacking on healthy foods easy, prep all your snack foods ahead of time so that you can grab and go.
